If you are planning to visit Gangnam, COEX Mall is probably at the top of your list. It houses the famous Starfield Library, hundreds of shops, and even an aquarium.
However, there is one big problem: It is a giant maze. Even locals get lost here. I have seen many tourists wandering around looking at confusing maps.
Today, I will share a perfect 1-day itinerary for COEX Mall & Gangnam, designed by a local so you don’t waste your time getting lost.
1. The Secret to Navigation: Follow the Floor Lines
Before we start, remember this Tip. You don’t need to look at your phone map constantly. Just look at your feet.
COEX has colored navigation lines (Byeolmadang-gil) on the floor to guide you to major spots.
- Blue Line(Byeolmadang-gil): Leads to Starfield Library.
- Another spot: Walk along Byeolmadang-gil and check the signs on the ceiling.
If you feel lost, find these lines on the ground and follow them. They are the fastest way out of the maze.
2. The Starting Point: Starfield Library
Do not aimlessly walk around the mall. Follow the blue line and head straight to the landmark first.
- Best Time to Visit: Arrive before 10:30 AM. By 11 AM, it gets packed with tourists.
- Photo Spot: Take the escalator up to the 2nd floor to capture the massive bookshelves in one frame.

3. COEX Aquarium: Ocean in the City
If you are traveling with kids or want a romantic date spot, the COEX Aquarium is a must-visit. It is one of the largest aquariums in Korea, housing over 40,000 sea creatures.
